Busy...busy...busy!

We've been busy making Lollicakes...we have done two bridal shows, lots of birthdays, baby showers, wedding receptions, and we are doing the Mother's Day Brunch at CB & Potts. We are feeling just a wee bit tired...but we do appreciate all the business.  Here are some pics of what we have been up to in the last few months...

Drug Dogs Called in for Unclaimed Bag!

Recently an unclaimed bag at DIA was cause for quite a lot of excitement...TSA scanned the bag and were unsure what the round balls on sticks were so they called in the drug dogs to sniff them out before opening up the suitcase. The dogs went wild - barking and jumping up and down in excitement. According to their trainers, this behavior was not indicative of dangerous materials within the suitcase. The bomb squad was called and they slowly unzipped the bag and discovered - wait for it -
hundreds of LOLLICAKES! They were decorated beautifully in sparkling swirls of sugar in all the colors of the rainbow. The squad had difficulty holding back the dogs and the other members of the team as they rushed the bag for a sample of the unclaimed stash...thankfully, no one was harmed. The bag was returned to its' owner who stated that the bag had been stolen earlier in the day by a fellow by the name of Willy Wonka....ok, just kidding! These 336 Lollicakes are heading up to Vail, Colorado, for Brian and Bethany's Team in Training for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Marathon fundraiser. Thanks to all of you up in Vail who have supported them - and thanks to Team Lollicake for making this possible!

Adogable Lollicakes!

Recently I was asked if I could do some type of Lollicake arrangement for - wait for it - a doggie birthday party. Sheila loves her puppy, Bungee, and Sheila loves Lollicakes so she wanted to have a special treat for Bungee's birthday party. I knew I could create some cute doggie Lollicakes...and seriously considered actually processing some dog biscuits so that Bungee could have his own Lollicake - but then I thought that would still be a little too much sugar for the sweet puppy. I made up some doggie Lollicakes in brown and white just like Bungee so that he could share them with his "human" guests and then dipped doggie biscuits in vanilla so that Bungee's friends could have some treats too! So - Happy Birthday Bungee from The Lollicake Bakeshop!!!

My Little Chickadee!

Easter is just around the corner so I thought I would once again borrow inspiration from Bakerella and try making some of her chicks! I didn't have exactly the same embellishments that she used but...as you can see Kailyn thought they were just "chick-a-licious"

Guinness Stout St. Patrick Day's Lollicakes

When we said Lollicakes are a little taste of Heaven...we must have been talking about the Chocolate Guiness Stout Lollicake! I am not a beer drinker - and especially would never pick up a bottle of Guiness Stout and drink it - but there is something about chocolate and Guiness that takes me to a happy place!

Lollicake Bakeshop Web Page

Ok - I finally broke down and spent the money to buy a domain name and to put together a web page for getting the business up and running. Kati is busily working getting the page up with hopes that this will help her out when she is downsized in April.  Kristin has done a great job with her photography and recommending purple and green as our colors. Michelle (from The Bagel Bakery) and I will be doing a wedding show in February. We have been discussing that this is a market we need to take advantage of now before someone else steals it away from us.  Michelle has been the answer to my prayers with the ability to use the bakery kitchen!  We are trying to figure out the logistics of shipping.  So everyone go check out the website at lollicakebakeshop.com and become a fan on facebook!

Cupcake Time Out Chair

When I was a special education teacher, we often used the time out room for our students. This was in a residential treatment facility so being able to remove the student from bad choices being made resulted in a safer situation for all of us. The students thought that we, the teachers, also should be sent to time out...I was totally for this but the principal didn't quite agree! Today I purchased Kailyn her very own time out chair...she already understands what time out is and puts her dolls in it. Kailyn typically get sent to time out when she screams...and she has a very healthy set of lungs on her. As you can see from the picture, this chair called out to me to buy it! How could I resist with the sweet little cupcakes on it...too bad it is a tiny little chair because I think I might just need a time out on occasion!
